Automotive Technician – Research Fleet
Location: Sunnyvale, Silicon Valley (100% Onsite)
Division: Test Operations (RD/R)
Schedule: 40-hour work week, flexible hours between 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Compensation: up to $50/hr depending on benefits
About the Role
Join our high-tech automotive research team and work hands-on with advanced vehicles in a dynamic workshop environment. You’ll be part of a project supporting autonomous vehicle research, maintaining a fleet of 60–80 new vehicles. This is a unique opportunity to gain experience with cutting-edge automotive technology and diagnostic systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine vehicle inspections, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs (tire mounting, rotation, balance, oil changes, lube, etc.)
- Troubleshoot and replace mechanical, electrical, and electronic parts (assemblies, sub-assemblies, individual parts)
- Maintain automotive tools, equipment, and a safe, clean workspace
- Document activities, repairs, and support tasks
- Follow automotive maintenance manuals and procedures
- Assist with parts and supplies handling, organization, and inventory control
Candidate Requirements
- 2–5 years of automotive mechanic experience
- High school diploma required; automotive training and ACE/ASE certifications preferred
- Experience with tire mounting, balancing, and oil changes
- Hands-on knowledge of electronic, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
- Experience with diagnostic tools (Monaco, Xentry, CAN, FlexRay, LIN) preferred
- Proficient computer skills (Windows OS, Linux)
- Valid US driver’s license required
- High voltage electrical training/background a plus
- Responsible, ethical, reliable, and proactive work ethic
- Collaborative team player with exceptional organizational skills
- German language skills a plus, but not required
