Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized Buyer to join our procurement and logistics team at Caterpillar in Mossville, IL. This role involves purchasing machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, or services necessary for the operation of the facility. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
- Review and optimize suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, and availability.
- Approve purchases of high-quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.
- Approve purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.
- Instruct staff on resolving issues related to undelivered goods and negotiation methods.
- Confer with staff, users, and vendors to address defective or unacceptable goods/services and determine corrective actions.
- Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance and identify necessary changes.
Minimum Experience (Years)
- 2–4 years of finance or related business experience required.
Required Skills
- Logistics / Supply Chain experience.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter with ability to manage tasks independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
