Title: Dev/Research Engineer 2
Location: Tucson, AZ (On-Site Full Time)
Duration: 12-month ongoing contract-option to go internal
Pay Rate: $28.00-$33.00/hr.
Schedule:
- Standard: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
- Options to work 4 days weekly – Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM–4:30 PM & Every Other Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Interview Process: 2 rounds – Phone/Virtual, then In-Person (Locals Only)
Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on and analytical Development/Research Engineer to join our team at Caterpillar’s Tucson Proving Ground. This role supports testing and validation activities on large mining equipment and is ideal for engineers with 2 years of experience who thrive in dynamic, collaborative environments.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test mechanical devices and systems
- Analyze customer design proposals and specifications for feasibility
- Diagnose equipment failures and recommend maintenance solutions
- Assist in structural design using engineering tools and software
- Plan, execute, and document machine-level testing
- Collaborate daily with engineers, mechanics, operators, instrumentation technicians, supply chain, and logistics
Education & Experience
- Degree Required: Bachelor’s in Engineering
- Note: Master’s degrees and 2-year degrees are not accepted
- Experience: 2 years (internships accepted)
- Comparable Backgrounds: Mechanic, construction, landscaping
