Title: Foundry Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Waterloo, Iowa – Waterloo Works – Foundry
Details: Contract with ongoing need, opportunity for direct hire, fully onsite role
Pay Rate: $36.00 – 43.00/hr. based on benefit inclusions and experience
2nd shift (3:30 PM–12:00 AM) or 3rd shift (10:30 PM–7:00 AM) based on candidate availability
Candidates located in the Midwest are preferred.
Job Summary
As a Foundry OFP Manufacturing Engineer, you will plan, coordinate, and execute manufacturing engineering projects across the foundry in a team-based environment. This role is fully onsite and heavily shop-floor focused (~75% of time), partnering closely with engineers, supervisors, and operators to support the order fulfillment process. Additional role expectations include business casual dress, Teams-based interviewing, and the ability to work safely and effectively in a factory environment (including prolonged time on feet and lifting up to 30 lbs). Visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future for this position.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute manufacturing engineering projects across foundry operations.
- Collaborate daily with cross-functional teams (engineering, supervision, and operators) to drive project outcomes.
- Spend ~75% of time on the shop floor supporting production and engineering activities.
- Participate in/complete required safety training and follow all shop-floor safety requirements (including metatarsal safety boots on day one).
- Support occasional intra-facility travel; may operate a company-owned utility vehicle indoors after required safety approval and may drive a personal vehicle to nearby facilities (within ~20 miles) as needed.
Years of Experience and Education
- 1+ year of foundry/process engineering experience (required).
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Technology (preferred) or relevant equivalent work experience.
Skills Required
- Foundry/process engineering fundamentals and practical production-floor support experience.
- Strong project coordination/project management skills; ability to drive work to completion.
- Effective team collaboration in a cross-functional manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Comfort working in a shop-floor environment with significant time on feet and physical activity.
- Desired (nice-to-have): Manufacturing line/process design experience.
- Desired (nice-to-have): Experience with SAP, MES, Creo, and/or AutoCAD.
- Desired (nice-to-have): Controls engineering and/or safety system design experience.
- Desired (nice-to-have): Robotics programming (FANUC) and troubleshooting experience.
