W2 Contract

The Project Cost Controller is responsible for tracking, managing, and controlling project costs across one or more projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring financial accuracy, cost forecasting, and adherence to project controls standards. The Project Cost Controller develops and maintains cost forecasts, manages contractor project control deliverables, prepares financial status reports, and supports project change management activities.

The role may serve as the primary cost controller on a large project or portfolio of projects, or support senior cost control staff on complex initiatives. Regular communication with project teams and upper management is required to report on project financial performance and risks.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain monthly, annual, and project life?cycle cost forecasts
  • Track, control, and report project costs in accordance with project controls standards
  • Manage and administer project change control activities, including cost impact assessments
  • Assemble and present project financial status reports for project teams and leadership
  • Oversee contractor project controls deliverables and ensure compliance with contractual requirements
  • Interpret engineering and construction contracts to ensure adherence to cost control requirements
  • Communicate project financial performance, trends, and risks to upper management
  • Support cost forecasting efforts by reviewing and interpreting project schedules
  • Contribute to effective project cost management across a large project or portfolio of projects

Required Qualifications

  • Higher education and/or 3+ years of experience implementing project controls methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience with cost management and control on large?scale construction projects or a large project portfolio
  • Verifiable work experience directly supporting project cost control activities
  • Proficiency with Excel and basic computing tools (required)
  • Ability to understand and interpret project schedules for cost forecasting purposes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, Business, Accounting, or Finance
  • Experience serving as a primary cost controller on a large project or portfolio
  • Certifications from PMI or AACE
  • Experience using SAP for cost control or financial tracking
