Summary
The Project Manager Non-IT is responsible for planning and managing one and/or several projects, of varying complexity, priority and risk that focus on the design and development of business solutions. Projects may span two or more departments, rely on new technologies, possess large capital budgets. Projects may also be critical to maintaining market-share or shareholder confidence and value, while delivering cost-effective and architecturally compatible solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Project Managers facilitate cross-functional and cross-organizational team members in a matrixed-managed environment.
  • They are responsible for project communications, project schedule and financial management, issue and risk tracking, and change management activities.
  • Project Managers apply their business and technical knowledge to initiate corrective actions, as appropriate, to ensure that deliverables are produced on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
  • Responsible for the selection, development, motivation, appraisal and salary recommendations of project managers who are your direct-reports.
  • Assist project managers in prioritizing work, issue resolution, creating management presentations, status reporting and review of communications beyond working teams.
  • Build relationships with business leaders to understand business objectives and priorities requiring project support. In collaboration with leaders maximize productivity on projects through effective resource assignments, training, monitoring and coaching to ensure resources are delivering consistent value.
  • Present and explain proposals, reports and findings to clients.
  • Recruit employees, assign, direct, and evaluate their work, and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
  • Analyze technology, resource needs and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
  • Confer with management, production and marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
  • Review and recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates.
  • Direct, review and approve product designs and changes.
  • Consult or negotiate with clients to prepare project specifications.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways.
  • Ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.
  • Knowledge of computer software, such as MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio etc.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.
  • PMI or PMP certification preferred.
  • 5-7 Years' Experience
