Job Summary
The Networking Systems Engineer leads the design, validation, and operational support of secure, high?availability systems supporting external partners and critical services. This role provides hands?on technical leadership across system architecture, testing, and production support while ensuring environments remain secure, stable, and ready for certification. Success in this role requires deep technical expertise, strong cross?functional leadership, and the ability to quickly resolve complex system issues.

Responsibilities

  • Lead system design, validation, and implementation efforts for complex, secure solutions.
  • Identify current?to?future state gaps and develop technical solutions to address them.
  • Design and execute customer validation testing, including test plans, use cases, and documentation aligned with security and compliance requirements.
  • Manage technical lab environments, ensuring hardware and software remain current and test?ready.
  • Coordinate technical and end?user resources to execute testing, analyze results, and communicate findings and timelines.
  • Implement monitoring tools and support production systems in a 24x7x365 environment.
  • Lead outage response, perform rapid issue triage, and drive complex problem resolution.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance system reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.

Years of Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or a related field required; graduate degree preferred.
  • 5–7+ years of systems engineering or infrastructure experience.
  • 2+ years in a technical leadership role within complex, enterprise environments.

Skills Required
Technical Skills

  • Expertise in PKI, LDAP, networking, routers, firewalls, and enterprise middleware solutions (e.g., Sterling Connect:Direct, IBM MQ, SecureTransport).
  • Experience with proxy/access management solutions and secure client technologies.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows, Unix/Linux, and Solaris operating systems.
  • Advanced understanding of infrastructure, integration, and system testing methodologies.

Professional Skills

  • Ability to lead and influence cross?functional teams without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical, problem?solving, and decision?making skills, especially during incidents.
  • Effective project coordination and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, business?focused messaging.
