Summary

The Planner & Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing system work plans to support operational commitments and regulatory requirements. This role partners with multiple departments to balance resources, track performance metrics, and provide visibility into workload, forecasts, and operational risks. The position plays a key role in ensuring timely delivery, efficient resource utilization, and data-driven decision-making across complex operational programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage comprehensive work plans aligned to operational commitments, regulatory requirements, and governing agency standards.
  • Lead planning handoffs to resource scheduling teams and coordinate with stakeholders across operations, projects, and program management.
  • Facilitate recurring meetings including contractor workload reviews, operations manager meetings, and program alignment sessions.
  • Create and maintain reporting and metrics to support Customer On-Time Delivery, public safety initiatives, outage response, and forecasting discussions.
  • Use historical data, trends, and problem-solving tools to assess risks, determine next steps, and inform operational decisions.
  • Build balanced resource plans by analyzing workload data, risk factors, SAP order reports, and stakeholder input.
  • Align internal and external resources to execute prioritized work that meets financial, performance, and customer commitments.
  • Develop O&M work plans to manage labor forecasts, reduce costs, and track monthly and YTD variances.
  • Communicate work plans, forecasts, and changes clearly and timely to support informed business decisions.
  • Partner weekly with resource scheduling to ensure all approved work is captured and accurately reflected.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 2–4 years of experience in a planning and scheduling role with demonstrated use of metrics and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and translate findings into actionable plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in operational, utility, or infrastructure-focused environments preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting complex, multi-department operational programs.
  • Familiarity with SAP order reporting and workforce planning tools.
  • Experience building forecasts, labor plans, and variance analysis for O&M or capital work.
