Title: Logistics Engineer
Location: Champaign, Illinois
Details: 24-month contract with ongoing need, opportunity for direct hire, fully onsite role, first shift position
Pay Rate: $36.00 – 40.00/hr. with benefit inclusions
JOB SUMMARY
This role supports a large-scale warehouse automation transformation by translating engineering design into operational execution. The position focuses on automation design and implementation, operational risk mitigation, and supporting safe, efficient system startups and post go-live stabilization within a high-volume logistics center environment. The engineer works as part of a cross-functional project team delivering enterprise-level automation solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support warehouse automation initiatives from design development through installation, commissioning, go-live, and stabilization.
- Contribute to automation solutioning, capital justification, implementation planning, and on-site execution support.
- Collaborate closely with operations, safety, IT, vendors, and contractors to deliver safe, practical automation solutions.
- Support installation, commissioning, and issue resolution for automated systems including ASRS, robotics, AMRs, kitting automation, and material flow redesign.
- Identify and mitigate operational and safety risks during deployment and stabilization phases.
- Provide clear project updates and technical input to engineering and operations leadership.
- Support change management activities tied to automation rollouts and process transitions.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in logistics, warehouse, or distribution engineering
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field
- Internship experience may be considered depending on scope and relevance
- Backgrounds such as Logistics Engineer or similar roles are considered comparable
