? Senior Network Engineer (Mainframe / zOS / Network Security)
Epitec is seeking to hire an experienced Senior Network Engineer for the largest U.S. automaker in Dearborn, Michigan, supporting enterprise?scale network infrastructure with a strong focus on IBM mainframe (z/OS) environments.

? Key Responsibilities

Define and design enterprise network architecture, layout, components, and data flow

Lead deployment and implementation of network technologies with operational handoff

Support routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, QoS, and wireless infrastructure

Implement and maintain network security controls, intrusion detection, and encryption
-
Ensure compliance with industry standards (PCI DSS, HIPAA)
-
Integrate new network and telecommunications technologies
-
Optimize network performance, minimize latency, and maximize throughput

Perform advanced troubleshooting and packet?level network analysis
-
Participate in a 24/7 on?call rotation
? Required Skills & Experience

Strong hands?on experience supporting IBM z/OS environments

Deep understanding of TCP/IP, SNA, VTAM, APPN, Enterprise Extender (EE)

Expertise with z/OS Communications Server and Policy Agent (Pagent)

Network security and encryption experience (AT?TLS, SSL/TLS, SSH)

Advanced experience analyzing packet captures and network traces

10+ years overall IT experience

8+ years in engineering or development roles
? Preferred Skills

Programming experience (Java or similar)

Linux / Unix environments

Automation & scripting (REXX, CLIST)

Tools: PuTTY, WinSCP, ServiceNow

SMF reporting, performance monitoring, and capacity planning
? Education: Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s or certifications preferred)
