Design Engineer
Location: Mossville, IL (On site)
Job Type: W2 Contract
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm
Pay Rate: $34 – 38/hourly with optional benefits packages including 401k, medical insurance, and PTO
Position Overview
- Support the design and development of low-pressure fuel systems for large diesel engines.
- Serve as the primary contact for specific engine families, ensuring system reliability and performance.
Role Impact
- Improve durability and reliability of components such as fuel priming pumps, transfer pumps, and filter bases.
- Act as a system integrator, coordinating cross-functional teams to define and troubleshoot system-level performance.
Daily Responsibilities
- Review and analyze warranty data to identify recurring issues.
- Lead Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) teams to resolve field problems.
- Respond to inquiries from engine plants regarding assembly, quality, and system performance.
- Collaborate with suppliers to understand manufacturing processes and implement design/process improvements.
- Work with the detailing group to update engineering prints.
Team & Environment
- Work closely with one other engineer and a team lead, supporting large diesel engines.
- Broader team also supports alternative-fuel engines and solenoids.
- Work environment is 80% desk-based and 20% hands-on testing/validation.
Candidate Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering experience (internships not counted).
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
- Strong skills in:
- Engineering problem-solving
- Detailed design
- Supplier collaboration
- Desired: Experience with heavy-duty machines, engines, or engine components.
- Required soft skills: Communication and collaboration.
