Software Engineer III
Location: Hybrid, Chicago, IL-based team
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Type: W-2 Contract (NO C2C CANDIDATES)
Pay Range: $80- 85 per hour
Overview
We are seeking a Software Engineer III to join a collaborative development team responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise-scale applications. This role will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from technical design and proof-of-concept work through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Java, Spring Framework, SQL, AWS, and Angular, along with a passion for building high-quality software in an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise applications using Java and Spring Framework.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver technical solutions and system integrations.
- Develop and support RESTful APIs and web services.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following established best practices and standards.
- Participate in solution design discussions, code reviews, and technical documentation efforts.
- Analyze application and database performance issues and troubleshoot production incidents.
- Partner with Quality Engineers to develop and execute automated testing strategies.
- Support CI/CD processes and deployment activities.
- Contribute to technology standards and mentor junior team members as needed.
- Communicate project progress, risks, and deliverables with team members and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of software design and web application development experience.
- Strong experience with:
- Java
- Spring Framework / Spring MVC
- SQL and relational databases
- AWS cloud services
- Experience developing and consuming web services and APIs.
- Experience working within Agile software development environments.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Angular.
- Experience with AWS serverless and containerization technologies.
- Experience with JavaScript, AJAX, and ORM frameworks.
- Experience with Jenkins, Git, GitLab, Maven, or other build and source control tools.
- Experience working in Unix/Linux environments.
- Knowledge of database object creation and stored procedures.

Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for a hands-on software engineer with strong Java/Spring development experience, solid SQL skills, cloud experience in AWS, and exposure to Angular. Candidates who have worked on enterprise-scale applications, APIs, and cloud-native solutions will be especially successful in this role.
