Location: Pontiac, Illinois
Job Type: Contract
Schedule: Onsite; Monday through Friday, first shift (7:00 AM to 3:30 PM) with some flexibility in start time.
Pay Range: $50.00 – $55.00 per hour
Job Description:
- Support fuel injector assembly and testing operations by providing manufacturing engineering expertise focused on production, quality, safety, and process improvement. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting manufacturing environments, facilitating APQP activities, and driving process improvements within assembly operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot assembly equipment and support the resolution of manufacturing-related issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for assembly and production processes.
- Investigate first-test-pass failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Create, maintain, and facilitate APQP elements, including Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans, and PFMEAs.
- Analyze manufacturing data, quality metrics, and production reports to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Conduct time and motion studies to improve efficiency, productivity, and manufacturing performance.
- Review engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Recommend improvements to manufacturing methods, equipment layouts, workflows, and material handling processes.
- Facilitate cross-functional meetings with quality, manufacturing, engineering, and operations teams.
- Manage priorities across multiple projects while supporting ongoing production requirements.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing process documentation and quality deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of five years of Manufacturing Engineering experience.
- Experience creating and facilitating APQP elements, including Process Flows, Control Plans, and PFMEAs.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Experience facilitating virtual and in-person cross-functional meetings.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and engineering reports.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer, Assembly Engineer, or in a comparable engineering role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Assembly and test manufacturing experience.
- Experience supporting high-volume production environments.
- Experience troubleshooting assembly equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with CAD or other engineering software applications.
