Instructional Designer

Location: Fully Remote
Preferred Location: Michigan (Lower Peninsula)
Duration: Contract
Pay Range: $30-35 per hour
 

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Instructional Designer with strong project management skills to support a variety of learning and development initiatives. In this role, you will apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies to create and revise both online and instructor-led training solutions.

This position will support a specific subsidiary of Consumers Energy and serve as a key liaison between stakeholders, subject matter experts, and project teams to ensure the successful delivery of training programs. The ideal candidate is experienced in instructional design, eLearning development, project coordination, and learning management systems.
 

Responsibilities

  • Manage course development projects from intake through launch within the Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Design, develop, and revise eLearning and classroom-based training materials
  • Create engaging learning experiences aligned with business and learner needs
  • Partner with subject matter experts and stakeholders to gather requirements and validate content
  • Launch, test, and maintain learning content within the LMS
  • Generate quarterly reports on itemized training costs for billing purposes
  • Coordinate multiple projects and priorities while meeting established deadlines
  • Serve as a primary point of contact between Consumers Energy and the assigned subsidiary
  • Perform additional instructional design and training-related tasks as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies
  • Experience designing and developing eLearning content
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Articulate Storyline
    • Articulate Rise
    • Vyond
  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills
  • Experience applying standard writing and style guidelines
  • Proven project management experience with the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities
  • Experience working within a Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Additional Information

  • A portfolio containing web-based training or eLearning examples is required for consideration.
  • This position is fully remote.
  • Candidates located in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula are preferred to support occasional onsite team meetings, though onsite attendance is expected to be infrequent.
