This past month our local employees had the opportunity to assist in Forgotten Harvest’s food drive last month. They teamed up to assist the organization in providing food distribution services for those facing food insecurity in the community.
Forgotten Harvest works to combat food security challenges and hunger prevalent in today’s communities. The group gathers surplus food from local supermarkets and other vendors, sorts it, and gives it to those in need. The team at Forgotten Harvest provides free access to fresh food by donating 144,000 pounds of extra food to local organizations five days a week.
This month, our group participated in two of their volunteer activities, sorted over 9,625 pounds of food, and packaged 780 boxes of non-perishables to benefit nearly 10,000 people in Metro Detroit. We look forward to further volunteer opportunities with the organization and are incredibly glad to be a part of a team that gives back to the community.
