Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a strategic and results-oriented Business Development Manager to drive sales growth across a portfolio of commercial service hotels. This individual contributor role focuses on identifying, qualifying, and developing new and existing accounts using a structured solution-selling methodology. The ideal candidate thrives in a virtual, performance-driven environment and excels at building relationships that generate revenue.
Key Accountabilities
- Account Identification & Qualification:
- Research and profile new and unmanaged accounts using internal and external tools. Maintain a robust sales pipeline and respond to group lead activity as needed.
- Communication & Coordination:
- Share account opportunities and updates via sales systems. Ensure smooth transitions of new accounts within the Commercial Services team.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with sales leadership and cross-functional teams to set goals, assign ownership, and align efforts.
- Sales Strategy & Reporting:
- Present the value proposition of our commercial services offering, demonstrate pricing and program expertise, and guide support teams in account qualification. Maintain accurate sales reports and CRM data.
Key Metrics
- Achievement of individual and team sales targets
- Quality and conversion rate of sales prospects
- Attainment of annual KPIs including customer engagement, pipeline development, and revenue growth
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5–8 years in the service industry, including 2+ years in multi-unit or corporate hotel roles
Core Competencies:
- Strategic Account Management and sales expertise
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Deep understanding of hotel sales, marketing, and competitive strategies
Technical Proficiencies:
- Proficient in Salesforce or similar CRM platforms
- Familiarity with transient and group RFP processes
- Knowledge of GDS, internet distribution, hotel operations, and rate loading
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work independently in a virtual environment
- Willingness to travel (~5%) to hotels, airports, and remote locations
Decision Rights & Collaboration
- Owns account qualification, prioritization, and strategy execution
- Collaborates with Revenue Management, Sales teams, Field Operations, and Technology departments
- Builds relationships with hotel owners, management companies, and client contacts
- Engages with industry organizations and vendor networks to generate leads
