Job Title: Engineering Technician
Location: Milford, MI
Job Type: W2 Contract
Expected hours per week: 40 Hours per week
Schedule: Onsite
Pay Range: $25.87-29.67 per hour
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Plan, build, install, and teardown instrumentation for the various tests requested by engineering.
• Setup and troubleshooting of test automation systems and non-intrusive driving robots.
• Evaluate results; Produce quality test data in accordance with Vehicle Technical Specifications (VTS) and Federal Regulatory requirements, per documented GMW and NHTSA procedures.
• Investigate mechanical/electrical operational difficulties on products and/or components.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and computer/software problems with test equipment and properties.
• Schedule workload and test equipment usage and calibration.
• Test vehicle installation, removal and monitoring.
• Work with vehicle communication tools including INCA, V-spy, General CAN, NeoVi, etc.
Required Qualifications
• Knowledge with instrumentation installation, troubleshooting and repair.
• A valid driver’s license
• Excellent mechanical assembly and disassembly skills.
• Experience with hand and other tools.
• Data acquisition, review and troubleshooting experience.
• Effective time management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills in both independent and team environments.
• Ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers.
• Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple assignments.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft word, excel, power point, Outlook).
• Ability to handle basic project assignments with minimum supervision.
• Ability to repeatedly perform activities involving bending, twisting, pulling and lifting of vehicle components up to 50 pounds, unassisted. Moving test equipment and portable tools (70-200#) around the shop as required. Perform overhead and under dash assembly/disassembly operations on every build. Stand for long periods of time while performing build tasks.
• Ability to operate vehicle movers, walkies or fork trucks.
• Maintains good housekeeping and safe practices.
• Ensure confidentiality of all customer data
• Target and complete continuous improvement ideas for the department
Installing, removing, and monitoring test vehicles on a chassis dynamometer. This includes portable test equipment.
Receive an assignment
Communicate with last shift
Install and remove vehicle from chassis
Work with non-intrusive robots
Working in garage
Set up test and monitor test
Group has a multiple dynos – candidate will watch multiple dynos at a time
Collect data
No tools required for this position
•2nd Shift 8 hour shift M-F 3:30 to midnight
• 3rd Shift 11:30 pm to 8:00am M-F
2 to 3 months training on 1st shift 7:30 to 4:00PM
