Drivetrain Test Engineer
Job Type: W2, 1-year Contract
Location: On-site, Waterloo, IA
Schedule: 1st Shift (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
Pay Rate: $35 – $37 per hour

Major Purpose
Drive the successful introduction of new or revised drivetrain systems by executing and managing individual lab test activities. Ensure all testing and data analysis are efficiently planned and completed to meet Product Delivery Process (PDP) and Continuous Improvement (CI) program objectives. The ideal candidate thrives in a hands-on environment, communicates effectively across teams, and independently solves problems to keep projects on track.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily test bay utilization and scheduling.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to secure resources and support for test execution.
- Communicate test status updates clearly and consistently.
- Lead setup of drivetrain system tests: order and track parts, verify installation, and generate work orders.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently or collaboratively.
- Conduct shakedown procedures and validate test sequences.
- Execute tests, inspections, and rebuilds as needed.
- Analyze test data, develop tools for data analysis, and ensure data quality.
- Archive final datasets and maintain accurate records in VISION.
- Document results, perform root cause analysis, generate technical reports, and provide actionable recommendations.
- Contribute to bay maintenance, suggest process improvements, and support CI initiatives.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Understanding of EPDP and PDP.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Project management capabilities with attention to detail and follow-through.
- Familiarity with business policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in engineering principles and drivetrain systems.
- Experience with machine forms, including competitor products.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
- Running tests and inspections.
- Analyzing test data and compiling reports.
- Experience with DIAdem, DEWESoft, or Matlab.
- Technical report writing (MS Office).
- Knowledge of CAN or software controls (a plus).
Education
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Agricultural Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Internship experience in a related field highly preferred; open to recent graduates.
