Title: Electrical Test Engineer
Location: Tucson, AZ
Details: 12-month contract with ongoing need, opportunity for direct hire, onsite position
Pay Rate: $50.00 – 55.00/hr. with benefit inclusions
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Electrical Test Engineer to support the testing and development of Electric Drive machinery, including AC Drive Haul Trucks, Shovels, and Locomotives. This role involves hands-on work in both field and office environments, collaborating closely with engineers, mechanics, and operators to execute prototype builds, machine updates, and system tests.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support testing activities for high-power electric drive systems (>1MW)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute prototype builds and machine updates
- Conduct and participate in Risk and Hazard Assessments related to electrical systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues during installation, testing, and maintenance phases
- Document test results and provide technical feedback to engineering teams
- Work daily with engineers, mechanics, and machine operators in a dynamic environment
Years of Experience and Education
- 8–10 years of experience in the design, testing, installation, or maintenance of high-power electrical systems (>1MW)
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required
Skills Required
Required:
- Advanced training and practical understanding of high-power electrical systems
- Hands-on experience with systems such as generators, switchgear, transformers, and electric drive machinery (e.g., mining shovels, haul trucks, locomotives)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for daily team interaction
Desired:
- Level 4 Electrical Certification
- Field experience in outdoor environments, particularly in desert conditions
