Overview
We are seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to lead product category development and execution. This role is ideal for individuals eager to contribute to breakthrough technologies and help build a world-class supply chain. The manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams—Hardware Engineering, Technical Program Management, Finance, and Technical Operations—from prototype to mass production to ensure successful product launches.
Core Responsibilities
Contract Manufacturing (CM) Operations – 80%
- Drive early supplier engagement in New Product Introduction (NPI) and New Technology Introduction (NTI) programs.
- Define supplier selection criteria, evaluate candidates, and manage the selection process in partnership with engineering and quality teams.
- Negotiate master agreements and statements of work (SOW) to secure best-in-class terms across pricing, flexibility, quality, delivery, payment, warranty, and service.
- Lead design and cost trade-off discussions to influence production design and manufacturing processes.
- Develop supplier performance metrics and conduct regular business reviews.
- Align supplier investments and roadmaps with the client’s mechanical technology goals.
- Lead total cost reduction initiatives covering product, transportation, inventory, and quality costs.
- Use should-cost models to guide negotiations and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to drive product and process improvements.
- Build stakeholder alignment and drive innovation in mechanical categories.
- Identify and lead cross-functional initiatives beyond immediate responsibilities.
- Manage supplier scorecards and SOW contracts.
Program Management – 20%
- Coordinate the CMM Ops team to maintain standard structures (e.g., Off-Site Action Follow-up, Supplier Briefs, Approval Outlook Dates, Upcoming Events).
- PMP certification is a plus.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, sourcing, or contract manufacturing.
- 3+ years of direct experience with Asia-based contract manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers.
- Experience in consumer electronics and mechanical technology development.
- Proven success in NPI and NTI programs.
- Strong negotiation skills across all contract dimensions.
- Ability to lead design and cost trade-off conversations.
- Experience with supplier performance systems and scorecards.
- Skilled in cost reduction strategies and should-cost modeling.
- Strong program management and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Effective communicator and influencer across all management levels.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and managing multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluent in Mandarin.
- Experience with Indian supply chains; fluency in Hindi or other Indian languages.
- PMP certification.
