Summary

We’re looking for a detail-oriented, observant, and self-driven Process Engineer to help execute, develop, and optimize innovative physicochemical processes that enable next generation optical materials for AR/VR applications. You’ll join an agile team focused on incubating winning prototypes and establishing new process capabilities with supply chain partners. This role is hands on in the lab, highly cross functional, and central to continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Handle, prepare, and process organic materials/solutions in a laboratory setting while rigorously following EHS protocols.
  • Run complex SOPs with precision and efficiency; recognize subtle variations that impact process outcomes.
  • Design and execute DoE to assess feasibility, establish/optimize process parameters, and scale learnings.
  • Troubleshoot electromechanical systems & lab equipment in partnership with engineering teams.
  • Collect, document, and analyze data; prepare clear reports and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Identify improvement opportunities across yield, throughput, cost, and material performance.

Skills Required

  • Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years of process development experience.
  • Laboratory experience handling organic chemicals/solvents and operating relevant equipment.
  • Demonstrated DoE & data analysis skills.
  • Strong data handling, documentation, and organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Knowledge of organic chemistry, crystallization, and transport phenomena.
  • Experience with optical metrology & refractive index measurements (e.g., prism coupler).
  • Experience slicing/dicing materials using diamond wire saw.
  • Experience with mechanical/chemical polishing methods.
  • Automation of lab equipment using LabVIEW or Java/Python.
