Expected Hours per Week:
40 hours per week

Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Hybrid.

Pay Range:
$79-82 per hour

What You’ll Do

  • Design and build scalable backend services and APIs that process GPS, trip events, driver behavior, diagnostics, and sensor telemetry at fleet scale
  • Develop real?time and batch data pipelines using Pub/Sub or Kafka and land data in BigQuery and operational stores
  • Architect and optimize data access across PostgreSQL / Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Redis, Bigtable
  • Implement data aggregation, enrichment, geo?spatial logic, and time?series rollups for reporting and analytics
  • Build and enforce data contracts, schema evolution, and backward compatibility
  • Integrate services with GCP infrastructure (GKE, serverless, scheduled jobs, event?driven systems)
  • Instrument systems with logging, metrics, and tracing and support production SLAs/SLOs
  • Apply security best practices for authorization, secrets management, and data privacy
  • Partner with product, data, and platform teams on design reviews and architecture decisions

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years IT experience, 5+ years backend development
  • Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
    (GKE, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud SQL, IAM, Cloud Functions)
  • Experience with big data systems: BigQuery, Spark, Dataflow
  • Backend development in Java, Kotlin, or Python
  • Designing and building REST and/or gRPC APIs
  • Experience with event?driven architectures and high?volume data streams
  • Production mindset: observability, performance tuning, CI/CD, on?call support

  • Vertex AI, BigQuery ML, Cloud Composer (Airflow)
  • Redis, Bigtable, Kafka
  • Kubernetes & Docker
  • MLOps?adjacent data pipeline patterns
  • Experience with telematics, IoT, fleet systems, or time?series data
