Role Overview
We’re seeking a licensed Behavioral Health Clinical Reviewer to support medical necessity and utilization review for behavioral health services across all levels of care.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct clinical reviews to determine medical necessity for behavioral health services
- Review medical records and behavioral health documentation
- Provide telephonic support to members as needed
- Apply medical necessity criteria for outpatient, IOP, PHP, and inpatient levels of care
- Review cases involving contract interpretation and behavioral health diagnoses
- Ensure accurate, timely clinical decision-making
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Illinois license:
- LCPC, LCSW, LMFT, or RN
- 3+ years clinical experience in:
- Psychiatric / behavioral health setting, or
- Independent behavioral health practice
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Solid clinical judgment and analytical skills
- Comfortable working with PC systems and databases
Preferred
- Utilization Review (UR) or Medical Necessity review experience
- Experience in managed care or health plan environments
