Position Summary
The Business Analyst (Non?IT) I supports transportation and supply chain operations within the manufacturing facility. This role focuses on tracking, analyzing, and reporting inbound transportation activities to ensure materials arrive on time to support production. The position works closely with logistics, suppliers, and carriers and serves as an entry?level opportunity into Caterpillar’s supply chain and transportation organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist supply chain and logistics teams in tracking and tracing inbound materials from suppliers to the manufacturing facility.
- Monitor transportation activity and resolve shipment issues in coordination with carriers and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain storage and retrieval of transportation data, reports, and business metrics.
- Generate and analyze transportation and logistics reports using Excel and enterprise systems.
- Support inbound dock scheduling and execution in partnership with the logistics team.
- Review transportation?related contracts, cost proposals, and supplements as needed.
- Track budgets, transportation costs, and expenditures against established targets.
- Document and support business and transportation processes.
- Communicate effectively across business units, suppliers, and logistics partners.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Economics, Finance, Logistics, Operations, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of related experience (internships accepted).
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with data and reports.
- Analytical and problem?solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
- Exposure to transportation, freight, or supply chain operations.
- Data analytics or reporting experience in a logistics or operations environment.
Work Environment and Team Structure
- Office?based role within the manufacturing facility.
- Direct interaction with supply chain, logistics, material requirements, suppliers, and carriers.
- Reports to the Work Director and supports an on?site Transportation Analyst dedicated to the facility.
