Title: Buyer – Purchasing Analyst
Location: Chillicothe, IL
Details:12-month contract with ongoing need, opportunity for direct hire, fully onsite role
Pay Rate: $31.00 – 34.00/hr. with benefit inclusions

Job Summary
The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing machinery, equipment, tools, parts, and services essential to operational and quality initiatives. This includes daily coordination with facility teams and Supplier Development Engineers, regular data mining and quality systems reviews, and potential weekly visits to a technical center to assist with part distribution. The role involves negotiating contracts, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring timely, cost-effective procurement aligned with strategic goals. This position offers exposure to executive leadership and plays a key role in supporting procurement and supply chain objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
  • Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.
  • Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales.
  • Represent the organization in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly data mining to support procurement decisions.
  • Perform daily quality systems reviews to ensure compliance and performance.
  • Communicate regularly with facility teams and Supplier Development Engineers to align purchasing activities with operational needs.
  • Support part distribution logistics, including potential weekly trips to technical centers.

Years of Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related business field required.
  • 8–10 years of finance-related experience required.
  • CPSM, CPPM, or CPP certification preferred (Certified Professional Supply Management; Certified Professional Purchasing Management; Certified Purchasing Professional).

Skills Required

  • Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, negotiation skills, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to analyze financial reports, price proposals, and other technical data.
  • Strong ability to accurately document and record customer/client information.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to purchasing.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management.
  • Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Data analytics (mining).
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Executive-level PowerPoint presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint for VP and Director-level audiences.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Experience with data mining tools and techniques.
