Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Buyer / Purchasing Professional to join Caterpillar’s Global Purchasing team in Mossville, IL. This role focuses on supplier management, strategic sourcing, negotiation, and cost reduction for non-metallic materials. You will serve as a subject matter expert, collaborating with engineering teams and managing supplier relationships to achieve category strategic targets.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze market and delivery systems to assess material availability.
  • Develop and implement purchasing and contract management policies and procedures.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials and supplies.
  • Locate and evaluate vendors; negotiate contracts and terms of sale.
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for compliance with company policy.
  • Represent Caterpillar in supplier negotiations and relationship management.
  • Perform spend analysis, quote analysis, risk mitigation, and supplier development.

Education & Experience Required

  • Years of Experience: 5–8 years relevant experience (internships accepted).
  • Degree: Minimum Associate’s Degree; BS or Master’s preferred.
  • Comparable Roles: Purchasing Analyst, Category Buyer, Purchasing Agent, Category Manager, Procurement Specialist, Procurement Professional.
