Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Dearborn, MI 48120
Schedule: Hybrid, 4 days onsite
Pay Rate: Up to $74.42/hour, depending on experience and chosen benefits
Position Summary:
Our Tier 1 Automotive client is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and deploy scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud-based infrastructure and managed services. This role focuses on creating opinionated cloud environments and foundational services such as Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Storage-as-a-Service, and other reusable building blocks that empower enterprise and product teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cloud Architecture & Deployment: Design and implement cloud platforms aligned with enterprise architecture and security standards to meet critical business needs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with architects, security teams, and product owners to deliver infrastructure solutions that ensure scalability, availability, and performance.
- Capacity Planning & Monitoring: Monitor system usage and forecast future needs to ensure optimal resource scaling.
- Automation & Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop automation scripts and IaC templates for provisioning complex cloud resources including identity services, VPCs, Kubernetes clusters, and data stores.
- Security & Compliance Integration: Embed enterprise security and disaster recovery policies into infrastructure configurations to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Cloud Storage Optimization: Design and manage cloud-based storage solutions with a focus on availability, security, and cost-efficiency.
- Strategic Execution: Support technology strategy and engineering roadmaps, optimizing cloud spend and ensuring high availability across regions.
- Cloud Modernization: Evaluate emerging technologies and assist in migrating legacy systems to modern cloud platforms.
Required Skills:
- AWS Expertise: Proficient in deploying and managing AWS infrastructure using Terraform, including VPCs, IAM, S3, RDS, ALBs/NLBs, and remote state management.
- Kubernetes Administration: Hands-on experience provisioning and managing Kubernetes clusters (EKS, GKE, AKS, or self-managed), including networking, storage, monitoring, and upgrades.
Preferred Skills:
Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience with GCP resource provisioning using Terraform, Deployment Manager, or gcloud CLI.
Python Development
- Skilled in writing production-grade automation tools, cost/reporting jobs, compliance checks, and internal services using Python.
CI/CD & GitOps
- Experience with tools like Argo CD, Tekton, or Concourse for building and managing pipelines.
Cloud Security
- Deep understanding of IAM, PKI, secret management, and automated compliance.
Observability & SRE
- Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and applying SRE principles for reliability.
Developer Tooling
- Experience building internal tools and automation in Python or Go to enhance developer workflows.
Experience Required:
- 6+ years in IT with 4+ years in development
- Practical experience in two programming languages or advanced proficiency in one
Education:
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree
- Preferred: Advanced degree or certifications in cloud technologies
