Position Summary:
The Value Stream Mapping & Operations Support Analyst supports the Tool & Die organization by analyzing, documenting, and improving operational processes related to designing, building, modifying, launching, and maintaining dies and tooling assets. This role partners with operations, engineering, production, and finance to improve process flow, manage work orders, track costs, monitor performance, and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain current-state and future-state value stream maps for Tool & Die operations.
- Analyze die build, repair, modification, tryout, maintenance, and launch processes.
- Identify bottlenecks, handoff delays, rework loops, redundant steps, and non-value-added activities.
- Recommend improvements to cycle time, throughput, productivity, quality, and cost performance.
- Support Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and operational excellence initiatives.
- Document dependencies between toolmakers, machining, engineering, maintenance, production, suppliers, operations, and finance.
- Track work orders, tooling requests, urgent repairs, planned die-build activities, and operational priorities.
- Support capacity planning, workload visibility, resource planning, prioritization, and status tracking.
- Partner with finance to track tooling spend, labor impacts, budget performance, work order activity, and cost drivers.
- Support forecasting, cost tracking, budget reporting, and financial analysis for Tool & Die operations.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and quantify the financial impact of process improvements.
- Create reports, dashboards, trackers, and visual management tools for operational leadership.
- Track KPIs including cycle time, backlog, capacity, utilization, work order completion, spend, budget variance, and delivery performance.
- Translate operational data into clear insights, recommendations, and action items for leadership and shop-floor teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 3–5 years of experience in data mining, data analysis, or operational analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience creating reports, dashboards, trackers, and KPI summaries.
- Ability to analyze operational processes, work orders, cost drivers, and performance data.
- Strong cross-functional communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work fully onsite in Dearborn, Michigan.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with value stream mapping and process mapping.
- Experience in manufacturing, automotive, Tool & Die, tooling, machining, or stamping operations.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
- Experience with budget tracking, cost analysis, forecasting, or finance partnership.
- Experience with advanced Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SAP, or similar reporting tools.
