Epitec is seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Power BI Architect to join a high-impact analytics team supporting enterprise reporting, business intelligence, and cloud data initiatives. This role will focus on designing scalable Power BI semantic models, optimizing Google BigQuery datasets, and delivering actionable insights that drive business decisions. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Power BI, data engineering, data warehousing, and stakeholder engagement.
Job Details
- Title: Senior Data Engineer / Power BI Architect
- Location: Livonia, Michigan, Hybrid (4 days onsite per week)
- Duration: Year-long contract
- Schedule: 7:00am – 4:30pm
- Pay Range: $55-$56/hr
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain enterprise Power BI semantic models using star and snowflake schemas.
- Develop advanced DAX measures, calculation groups, Power Query (M) transformations, incremental refresh strategies, and aggregation tables.
- Build, optimize, and troubleshoot complex Google BigQuery SQL queries, including large-scale joins, CTEs, and window functions.
- Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, define KPIs, document reporting logic, and deliver scalable reporting solutions.
- Support data engineering initiatives including ETL/ELT processes, dimensional modeling, data validation, and reporting-ready data structures.
- Optimize Power BI performance using DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, Performance Analyzer, and VertiPaq Analyzer.
- Manage Power BI Service administration, security, deployment pipelines, gateways, refresh schedules, and governance standards.
- Lead UAT, reconciliation efforts, user training, and ongoing reporting support.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 10+ years of Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, and enterprise reporting experience.
- Advanced Power BI expertise, including semantic modeling, DAX, Power Query (M), composite models, and paginated reports.
- Strong hands-on experience with Google BigQuery and advanced SQL development.
- Experience with data warehousing, dimensional modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data engineering best practices.
- Experience administering Power BI Service, security, publishing, gateways, and refresh optimization.
- Strong requirements gathering, documentation, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Experience with Python, Airflow, Cloud Composer, or Dataflow is a plus.
- Experience with CI/CD, version control, and BI governance practices is highly desired.
