Overview
We’re seeking a Dev/Research Engineer 1 to support Caterpillar’s Precision Seals Test & Validation team within the Integrated Components Division (ICD). In this onsite role, you’ll contribute to the worldwide validation of metal face seals used on Caterpillar machines, supporting product performance, durability, reliability, quality, and serviceability.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain multiple seal validation test benches
- Author and update safe job procedures and lockout/tagout documentation
- Manage internal and external validation test requests
- Support quality, material, and design improvement projects
- Perform root cause analysis on field returns
- Support NPI (New Product Introduction) and CPI (Current Product Improvement) projects
- Collaborate with system engineering teams to identify and validate optimal sealing solutions
- Create and deliver technical reports
- Research and develop new sealing technologies
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Agricultural Engineering
- 0–2 years of experience (internship experience accepted)
- Strong mechanical and analytical aptitude
- Strong problem?solving skills
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively
- Proficiency in Creo or related CAD software
Preferred
- Metallurgical engineering or advanced physics background
- Previous test/validation experience
- Experience with data analysis software
- Experience with instrumentation/controller software
- Experience with metallic and non?metallic materials or components
