Pay Rate: $41.00 – 45.25/hr. with benefit inclusions

Job Summary
We are seeking a Software Test Automation Engineer to support software validation, automation development, and release testing for embedded control systems. This role will execute software tests, analyze results, investigate defects, develop automation solutions, and support continuous improvement efforts to enhance software quality, reliability, and testing efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Execute software verification, validation, and regression testing activities for embedded control systems.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test scripts and automation frameworks using Python, C#, or similar languages.
  • Analyze test results, troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and support defect resolution.
  • Support software release validation through functional, regression, and requirements-based testing.
  • Maintain automation infrastructure, driver files, test scripts, and validation tools.
  • Collaborate with software developers, controls engineers, and validation teams to improve product quality and test coverage.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools, test equipment, data acquisition systems, and HIL/SIL environments to support testing activities.
  • Validate software functionality on electronic control modules (ECMs) and CAN/J1939 communication networks.
  • Document test procedures, results, defects, and corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, quality, and testing efficiency.

Years of Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline required.
  • 0–3 years of experience in software testing, validation, automation, embedded systems, controls engineering, or related technical fields.
  • Internship, co-op, research, or academic project experience may be considered toward overall experience requirements.
  • Master’s degree candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Associate or two-year technical degrees will not be considered.

Skills Required
Required Skills

  • Software testing, validation, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Test automation development using Python, C#, or similar programming languages.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems and electronic control modules (ECMs).
  • Understanding of software verification, validation, and requirements-based testing processes.
  • Experience analyzing test results and identifying software defects.
  • Familiarity with CAN/J1939 communication protocols and diagnostic tools.
  • Experience with test equipment, data acquisition systems, HIL/SIL environments, or similar test platforms.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, quality focus, and ability to learn new tools quickly.
  • Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with engine controls, engine systems, or related applications.
  • Experience with dSPACE, Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, ET, or similar validation tools.
  • Experience developing automated regression test suites.
  • Experience presenting technical findings to stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence decisions through data-driven recommendations.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement and automation initiatives.
