Job Title: Cost Estimator III
Location: Blackman, MI  
Job Type: 12 month W2 contract
Expected hours per week: 40 hours per week
Schedule: Hybrid / Remote
Pay Range: $50 – $55, negotiable

Responsibilities

  • Prepare complete estimates for assigned medium?size, moderately complex projects and various contract types (directly or through support staff).
  • Apply standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the estimating discipline.
  • Use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; role requires some creativity and latitude.
  • Develop pricing using industry?standard guidelines and estimating references.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and use estimating software daily.
  • Prepare discipline?specific estimates by completing full takeoffs for scope of work.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend meetings to determine required estimate content and project scope.
  • Coordinate the complete estimating effort for assigned bids/projects.
  • Utilize cost estimating software with mentorship from Senior Estimators.
  • Maintain files of working documents as backup for estimated figures.
  • Assist Senior Estimator with incorporating estimate data into the cost database.
  • Interface with owners, A/E teams, and contractors to provide engineering and cost information regarding project feasibility.
  • Break estimates into a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) covering materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Apply estimating standards for markup, contingency, and other construction?related percentage factors.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of assigned discipline(s), estimating techniques, and cost?control methods.
  • Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.

Required estimating disciplines include:

  • Civil
  • Structural
  • Mechanical
  • Electrical
  • Instrumentation & Controls (I&C)
  • Pipeline
  • Storage
  • Metering & Regulation (M&R)

Minimum of 1–2 years of construction cost estimating experience.

Education

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Candidates without a degree may be considered with strong relevant estimating experience.
