Events Manager
Location: Harvard University, Richard A. and Susan F. Smith Campus Center, Cambridge, MA – Hybrid
Pay: 30-38 per hour – 3 month contract
University is seeking an experienced Event Manager to support the design, coordination, and execution of programs and events serving a diverse student population. This role will focus on developing engaging experiences for student communities, including first-generation students, veterans, and students with children, while fostering an inclusive and supportive campus environment.
The Event Manager will oversee all phases of event planning and execution, partnering with campus stakeholders to identify program needs, coordinate logistics, manage communications, facilitate events, and evaluate outcomes. The ideal candidate will have experience working in higher education, student affairs, or student services, with a strong understanding of the unique needs and challenges facing diverse student populations. Key Responsibilities
- Design, coordinate, and execute educational, social, and community-building events and programs for various student populations.
- Manage event logistics, including scheduling, space reservations, vendor coordination, communications, registration, catering, and on-site support.
- Facilitate meetings, workshops, and student-focused programs while ensuring an engaging and inclusive participant experience.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for event stakeholders, campus partners, and student groups.
- Monitor event timelines, budgets, and project plans to ensure successful program delivery.
- Delegate responsibilities and coordinate support staff, vendors, or volunteers as needed.
- Maintain event documentation, reports, attendance records, and post-event assessments.
- Provide evening support for programs and events, many of which occur after 5:00 PM.
- Collaborate with Harvard departments and campus partners to strengthen student engagement and support services.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Harvard management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the needs and support systems for first-generation students, veterans, parenting students, and other student communities.
- Experience facilitating workshops, discussions, training sessions, or student engagement programs.
- Strong event planning, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage multiple events and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience coordinating events, conferences, workshops, or campus programming.
- Familiarity with University or similar higher education institutions is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
- Flexibility to support evening and occasional after-hours events.
