Location: On-site in West Olive, Township, MI
The Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the operations of the Fuel Handling Department. This role ensures safe and efficient delivery of coal to the plant’s boilers through a complex conveyor system, while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise a team handling coal delivery, unloading rail cars, and maintaining a steady fuel supply to boilers.
- Oversee maintenance of bottom ash ponds, fly ash silos, and ash landfill.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and corporate safety standards (OSHA, MIOSHA).
- Execute monthly maintenance plans and manage emergent repairs.
- Manage fleet vehicle quality and repairs.
- Monitor departmental metrics, budgets, and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Lead and participate in safety and operational reviews, problem-solving events, and team meetings.
- Coordinate coal train deliveries, switching/tagging procedures, and ensure consistent fuel quality.
- Supervise union employees, maintain equipment integrity, and enforce company policies.
- Handle administrative tasks including time sheet approvals, training schedules, PPE management, and grievance procedures.
- Promote a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma/GED.
- 2–4 years of experience with conveyor systems and industrial equipment.
- Technical experience in power plant operations through education or related work.
- Experience managing union employees.
