- The GIS System Analyst supports the IT organization of a local utility in Jackson, Michigan, ensuring that enterprise GIS platforms, spatial data, and integrated applications operate reliably and effectively. This role partners closely with engineering, operations, field services, and asset-management teams to deliver accurate geospatial information and GIS-enabled solutions that strengthen utility operations and customer service.
- This position will be hybrid onsite Mon/Tues/Thurs and remote on Wed/Fri on most weeks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enterprise GIS administration: Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and related components.
- Spatial data management: Maintain utility asset datasets, perform QA/QC, and enforce data governance and metadata standards.
- System integration support: Assist with integrations between GIS and OMS, CIS, EAM/CMMS, SCADA, and mobile workforce systems.
- Application and map development: Build and maintain web maps, dashboards, mobile data-collection tools, and custom GIS applications.
- Automation and scripting: Use Python, SQL, and FME to streamline workflows, improve data quality, and support system automation.
- User support and training: Provide Tier 2/3 support, create documentation, and train field and office staff.
- Project collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver GIS-enabled solutions.
- System monitoring and maintenance: Oversee system performance, updates, patches, and availability of GIS services.
Skills:
- At least 5 years of experience working with the ArcGIS suite of technologies in an enterprise environment
- Advanced proficiency with Esri tools including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and enterprise geodatabases.
- Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, SQL, and FME.
- Experience supporting enterprise systems and working within structured IT environments.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with APIs and web services for system integrations
- Preferred Qualifications
- Utilities industry experience (electric, water, wastewater, or gas).
- Familiarity with Esri Utility Network or legacy Geometric Network models.
- Experience with mobile GIS tools such as Field Maps, Survey123, or Workforce.
- Knowledge of cloud or virtualized environments such as Azure, AWS, or VMware
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field — or equivalent experience.
