Overview

We are seeking a highly dynamic Industrial Engineer – Innovation & Productivity to support operations at a major automotive manufacturing plant. This hybrid role focuses on improving plant productivity, optimizing labor standards, and driving innovation initiatives, while supporting advanced manufacturing technologies across the facility.


Details

  • Location: Sterling Heights, MI (Onsite)
  • Shift Time: Morning Shift (Standard Hours, Overtime Required)
  • Pay Rate: $42.30/hr

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and track labor standards and productivity metrics
  • Conduct time and motion studies using MODAPTS, GSPAS/APT systems
  • Analyze process constraints and equipment cycle times to improve efficiency
  • Perform ergonomics evaluations and support workstation design improvements
  • Support facility layout updates and maintain capacity planning documentation
  • Assist in execution of plant innovation strategy and track project progress
  • Collaborate across innovation pillars (Digitalization, Data Analytics, Robotics, AI Vision, 3D Printing, AGVs/AMRs)
  • Support innovation project tracking, reporting, and proof of concept initiatives
  • Facilitate ideation sessions and evaluate readiness for new technology adoption
  • Assist with capacity uplift projects including equipment run-offs and implementation
  • Partner cross-functionally with production, engineering, and leadership teams

Required / Preferred Qualifications

Required:

  • Strong background in Industrial Engineering fundamentals (labor analysis, time studies, productivity analysis)
  • Experience managing multiple projects and cross-functional initiatives
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-driven, collaborative, and able to manage shifting priorities
  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred:

  • Experience with MODAPTS, GSPAS, or APT systems
  • Familiarity with ergonomics analysis tools
  • AutoCAD experience for layout modeling
  • Exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies (Robotics, AI, 3D Printing, AGVs)
  • Experience with Power BI, PowerApps, or programming
  • Bachelor’s Degree
