SOC Junior (L2) QA/QC Analyst

Engagement: 12?month contract with extensions
Location: 100% Remote
Schedule: 1st shift, Monday–Friday (9:00 AM – 5:45 PM CT). Some schedule flexibility required.
Compensation: $32–$38/hour

About the Role

This is a specialized SOC L2 role focused on Quality Assurance and Quality Control, supporting SOC operations through KPI tracking, case review, metrics reporting, and analyst coaching. The role is less focused on active incident response and more focused on ensuring consistent, high?quality SOC performance and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform QA/QC reviews across SOC queues to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and SLA compliance
  • Review security cases for quality, documentation, and adherence to SOC processes
  • Own SOC metrics, KPIs, and reporting for leadership visibility
  • Provide daily updates on operational issues, trends, and impacts
  • Support queue administration, oversight, and task delegation
  • Assist with casework as needed during elevated activity
  • Lead and maintain recurring QA meetings (weekly, bi?monthly, monthly)
  • Coordinate analyst roundtables, training sessions, and lunch?and?learns
  • Mentor junior analysts through coaching, feedback, and quality reviews
  • Collaborate with SOC, Intelligence, Incident Response, and Security teams as needed
  • Identify visibility gaps and recommend process or tooling improvements
  • Develop and maintain playbooks, procedures, and detection documentation
  • Clearly communicate security findings to both technical and non?technical stakeholders
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) or related cybersecurity role
  • Hands?on experience with SOC operations, workflows, and case management
  • Familiarity with SIEM, SOAR, and DFIR tools
  • Strong understanding of the incident response lifecycle and security best practices
  • Experience tracking SLAs, KPIs, and operational metrics
  • Knowledge of security policy development and documentation
  • Understanding of regulatory and internal control concepts (e.g., SOX, privacy)
  • Strong analytical and problem?solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience reviewing work, coaching others, and reporting findings to leadership
  • Strong technical writing and documentation experience
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Insurance or other regulated?industry experience
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, GCFA, GCIH, GCFE, or equivalent
  • ITIL certification
