Job Title: Logistics Specialist
Contract Duration: 1 year, possible extension
Location: Coppell, TX
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Pay Range: $25-$27/hour

Responsibilities
Logistics Management

  • Monitor shipments and coordinate with customs, carriers, and vendors for timely delivery
  • Prepare, review, and submit import/export-related documents
  • Collaborate with vendors, customers, and internal departments for seamless delivery processes
  • Negotiate competitive pricing and service agreements with vendors and carriers

Logistics Load Planning

  • Route shipments using SAP WMS and schedule appointments at customer distribution centers
  • And track both inbound and outbound shipments
  • Secure capacity with truckload carriers and schedule pickups with Collect Customers
  • Monitor EDI 214 updates, resolve daily logistics issues, and execute the freight payables process
  • Assess opportunities for service level and cost improvements while ensuring carrier performance compliance.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain positive team dynamics and support 3PLs and vendors in daily operations.
  • Track and trace shipments daily to prevent delays and support urgent business needs.
  • Ensure quick and precise system execution for product deliveries.
  • Coordinate special projects and additional services as required.
  • Support inter-departmental initiatives and collaborate with 3PLs for critical shipments.
  • Adhere to federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines in logistics operations.
  • Analyze delivery requests, select optimal appointment times, and schedule requests based on optimization metrics.
  • Partner with internal teams (demand fulfillment, SCM, warehouse operations) to plan and schedule customer shipments.
  • Secure capacity with truckload carriers based on advance forecasting data.
  • Schedule and plan customer routed freight.
  • Continuously track and trace all inbound/outbound shipments.
  • Obtain and analyze rate quotations from transportation carriers.
  • Resolve immediate concerns related to customer issues for loads in transit.
  • Execute the freight payables process and complete opportunity assessments for service level and cost improvements.
  • Ensure accountability for carrier performance.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2–3 years of experience in transportation planning, scheduling, or operations; global logistics experience is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Excel, and TMS systems.
  • Prior experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of transportation operational terms and best practices.

Technical & Soft Skills

  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Working knowledge of TMS and SAP WMS is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex datasets and present insights to stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, reliability, and strong motivational and leadership abilities.
  • Experience working with diverse cultures and teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for status updates and logistics matters.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.

  • Work is performed in an office environment with occasional periods of time-sensitive stress.
  • Requires the use of a computer keyboard and video display terminal.
  • May involve additional hours beyond the standard schedule as needed.
