The New Model Program Engineer is responsible for end?to?end program execution of new vehicle and powertrain launches across Ford’s North America Manufacturing plants. This individual contributor role drives launch excellence by managing pre?production builds, issue resolution, design changes, vehicle fleet activities, and program governance while ensuring adherence to cost, quality, and timing targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Own overall program management for new vehicle and powertrain launches from pre?production through plant integration.
- Serve as program governance gatekeeper, ensuring compliance with launch processes, milestones, and standards.
- Plan, manage, and execute pre?production build events, driving quality, efficiency, and readiness.
- Lead vehicle fleet management, including ordering, build coordination, testing, drive evaluations, and final disposition.
- Manage engineering and product development design changes, ensuring timely approval, integration, and validation prior to builds.
- Lead cross?functional issue management, driving root cause, corrective actions, and timely closure of build and part issues.
- Co?chair launch and build readiness meetings and proactively resolve part support and execution risks.
- Execute New Model Program budget approvals and controlled expenditures within the overall launch budget.
- Prepare and present weekly program assessment reports highlighting status, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Deliver senior management updates, clearly communicating progress, issues, and recommended actions.
- Support seamless launch team transition into manufacturing plants post?launch.
- Travel to manufacturing plants as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 4+ years of experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project
- 2+ years of experience in structured problem?solving using data or statistical methodologies
- 1+ year of experience in vehicle or powertrain manufacturing, design, or program management, including launch or project management exposure
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
- Hands?on program or project management experience
- Manufacturing or plant?based experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Experience supporting vehicle launch from development through full production
- Familiarity with Engineering Change Management and Issue Management processes
