Location: Davenport, IA
Shift: 1st Shift (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM) — Overtime may be required
Schedule: Local candidates only — onsite interviews required
Safety Requirement: Metatarsal safety boots required

Pay Rate: $30-40/hour, depending on experience and chosen benefits

Position Overview

As a Fabrication Manufacturing Engineer supporting Forestry welding operations, you will work directly with production teams to resolve operational challenges, support continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to the success of the One Davenport team at our clients facility.

This role operates in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where collaboration, diversity, valuing others, and inclusion are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate, gather, and analyze data to identify root causes of welding issues within supported departments.

  • Develop and maintain routings, pay standards, plant layouts, weld tooling, weldment cost estimates, operator method sheets, and control plans.

  • Identify and implement improvements in welding operations focused on cost reduction, quality, safety, and ergonomics.

  • Utilize PDM, SAP, and Creo to perform engineering functions and maintain accurate documentation.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience or formal education in Welding Engineering.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with union employees, engineers, and supervisors.

  • Working knowledge of Creo, AutoCAD, or similar CAD/modeling software.

  • Familiarity with engineering tools, systems, and databases (e.g., SAP, Kotem).

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience working with labor standards within MPPlanner.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing weld processes, tooling, and facilities.

  • Background in programming and troubleshooting Fanuc robotic welding systems.

  • Experience in line design, process design, material presentation, and line balancing.

  • Hands-on experience with Lincoln or Miller MIG welding equipment.

  • Experience collaborating with skilled trades and familiarity with UAW contract guidelines.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with an emphasis in Welding or a closely related discipline

OR

  • Equivalent relevant work experience
