This is a 3rd shift position – 10:30pm – 7am CST, Sunday night through Friday morning
Job Summary
The OFP Manufacturing Engineer for Engine Works in Waterloo, IA provides support to current production operations while driving continuous improvement across manufacturing processes. This role focuses on troubleshooting, data analysis, and implementing process improvements for existing and new product lines. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize production efficiency, quality, and cost through effective process design and tooling solutions.
Responsibilities
- Provided support and basic troubleshooting for current manufacturing operations
- Investigated, gathered, and analyzed production data for recurring engineering tasks
- Established and updated routings, methods, layouts, tooling, cost structures, and labor standards
- Developed and maintained methods documentation and quality plans for new and existing processes
- Supported implementation of new parts and programs of limited scope
- Developed and/or procured tooling and mistake-proofing solutions for manufacturing processes
- Participated in Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality
- Collaborated with team members to resolve production issues and improve workflow performance
Years of Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 1+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or factory support environment
- Experience with manufacturing processes, automation, or robotics preferred
Skills Required
- Knowledge of manufacturing engineering fundamentals including routings, methods, layouts, tooling, and labor standards
- Experience with troubleshooting production issues and supporting plant operations
- Ability to analyze manufacturing data and support process improvements
- Experience working in a team-based environment
- Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Familiarity with SAP systems
- Understanding of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
- Experience with DC electric torque equipment
- Exposure to robotics or factory automation technologies
