Mechanical Engineer II

Location: Mossville, IL (On?site, Full Time)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Duration: 12?month contract
Pay Rate: $32 – $35 an hr

About the Role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to support the design, configuration, and integration of large engine systems used across a wide range of industrial and commercial applications. This role focuses on custom design?to?order (DTO) requests, pricing configuration support, and factory build issue resolution, working closely with engineering, operations, and manufacturing teams.

This is a hands?on engineering role offering strong exposure to product configuration, customer?driven design, and cross?functional collaboration from concept through production.


Key Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, and support mechanical systems, components, and engine configurations.
  • Review customer and dealer design requests and provide technical feedback to ensure feasibility, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Support custom Design?to?Order (DTO) requests to enable customer and dealer orders.
  • Maintain and update engine pricelists and pricing configuration models for multiple product platforms.
  • Assist with certification maintenance and documentation support.
  • Investigate factory build issues, analyze root causes, and collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve problems.
  • Support drafting and design activities by assisting with structural layouts, sketches, and engineering drawings.
  • Interpret and review blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and computer?generated reports.
  • Collaborate cross?functionally with engineering, factory operations, sales, product support, and dealers.

Typical Work Environment

  • On?site office environment, 5 days per week
  • Collaborative engineering team structure
  • Regular interaction with factory teams and global support groups

Team & Collaboration

  • Work closely with a small local engineering team while supporting factory operations in multiple locations
  • Be part of a larger configuration engineering group supporting both internal and third?party engine applications
  • High visibility role with meaningful impact on customer orders and production success

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 2–4 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Strong communication, problem?solving, and analytical skills
  • JT / Viz / Creo
  • Ability to create and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Proficiency with standard engineering and computer applications
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a team environment

Relevant internship experience may be considered.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD and visualization tools such as JT, Creo, or similar platforms
  • Background in design, configuration, integration, or systems engineering
  • Experience supporting product pricing, configuration models, or certification processes
  • Familiarity with large engine systems or industrial power applications (preferred, not required
