Mechanical Engineer II – Electric Drive Lab Testing
Location: Mossville, IL (Onsite)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm
Duration: 12-month contract with potential to extend
Compensation: $34-$39/hr W2 with medical, dental, vision, and 401k benefits
Role Overview
This role supports hands-on lab testing and failure analysis of electric drive components and systems in a fast-growing electrification environment. The engineer will focus on performance and durability testing of motors and generators, conducting detailed inspections and root cause investigations while working closely with experienced engineers in a mentored setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on inspections and root cause analysis of motor and generator failures
- Conduct electrical checks, visual inspections, X-ray reviews, and material and fluid analyses
- Support durability and performance testing of electric drive components and systems
- Document findings clearly and communicate results to engineering stakeholders
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, controls, simulation, and lab engineering
Work Environment
- Lab-based role with approximately 70% hands-on lab work and 30% desk and documentation time
- Close daily interaction with senior engineers for training, oversight, and mentorship
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Agricultural Engineering
- 1-4 years of engineering experience in lab, test, manufacturing, or product development settings
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Strong organization, documentation, and communication skills
- Comfortable working hands-on with mechanical and electrical components
Preferred Qualifications
- Electrical testing or lab test experience
- Exposure to product development, durability testing, or failure analysis
- Experience working in a lab, test cell, or manufacturing support environment
