Mechanical Engineer 2 (Diesel Engine Performance Engineer)
Location: Lafayette, IN (On-site)
Duration: 12-month assignment
Pay: $35 – $38 an hr

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support diesel engine performance, testing, and customer-facing technical activities in a fast-paced engineering environment. This role offers strong exposure to product performance, factory testing, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research, design, and analyze mechanical systems, components, and diesel engine performance
  • Support factory hot test operations, including troubleshooting and resolving performance issues
  • Investigate equipment failures and recommend corrective actions to improve system reliability
  • Review and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications to support engineering activities
  • Assist in developing engineering designs and solutions using CAD and related tools
  • Support order processing, technical inquiries, and data management activities
  • Work within a structured task system to track assignments and ensure timely completion

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline
  • 2–4 years of relevant engineering experience (internships applicable)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Proficiency with engineering tools and software (e.g., CAD, Excel, MATLAB, or similar)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of diesel engine operation and troubleshooting
  • Experience working with data analysis tools or reporting platforms (e.g., Power BI, SQL, Excel macros)
  • Ability to work independently with strong initiative while collaborating across teams
