Mechanical Engineer 2 | 24-Month Contract | East Peoria, IL
Are you a Mechanical Engineer with experience in product design, CAD modeling, and mechanical components? We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer 2 to support a drivetrain component design team responsible for parts used across a wide range of heavy equipment platforms.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to large-scale mechanical systems while working alongside experienced engineers on critical drivetrain components that are foundational to machine performance.
Position Overview
- Location: East Peoria, IL
- Temporary assignment in Mossville, IL through February 2027
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, first shift
- Duration: 24-month contract
- On-site position
- No travel required
- Safety equipment provided; candidate must provide steel-toe boots
What You’ll Do
- Support senior engineers with mechanical design and engineering tasks
- Create and modify 3D models and components using Creo
- Develop concept designs and component layouts
- Perform stress and life analysis on drivetrain components
- Assess casting designs and part nonconformance risks
- Research, design, develop, and test mechanical products and systems
- Analyze engineering specifications, technical data, and customer requirements
- Investigate component and equipment failures to identify root causes
- Support product development, manufacturing, quality, and supplier activities
- Assist with engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
- 2–4 years of mechanical engineering experience
- Experience with mechanical design and product development
- Proficiency with Creo 3D modeling
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, prints, and schematics
- Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Creo Simulate or other FEA tools
- Steel or iron casting design experience
- APQP knowledge
- Manufacturing, automotive, or heavy equipment experience
- Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude
