Audio Visual (AV) Support Technician
Cambridge, MA (ONSITE)
3 MONTHS – W2 CONTRACT
$50-60/hr
Position Overview
Provide multimedia AV support for classroom instruction and campus events, including equipment setup and breakdown, videography, live event support, and troubleshooting. Work assignments are scheduled based on departmental needs, with training provided on supported spaces, equipment, and workflows.
Responsibilities
- Provide AV and multimedia support for faculty, students, and staff during classes and events.
- Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and break down audio, video, and presentation equipment.
- Assist users with PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Workspace, YouTube, and other media platforms.
- Record lectures, labs, and events while ensuring high-quality audio and video capture.
- Transport, deploy, and maintain AV equipment across campus locations.
- Support classroom projection, sound reinforcement, and digital video recording systems.
- Deliver professional customer service and timely technical support.
- Follow departmental procedures, coordinate schedules, and provide team coverage as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Two years of college, technical school, or equivalent experience.
- Working knowledge of audio, video, multimedia, and computer technologies.
- Experience troubleshooting AV equipment and classroom technology.
- Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in Multimedia, AV Technology, IT, or a related field.
- Experience with Shure wireless microphones, Panasonic or Blackmagic cameras, projectors, and Crestron/Extron room control systems.
- Familiarity with Windows, Mac, and web-based media platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable attendance record and strong teamwork skills.
Working Conditions
- Some evening and weekend shifts may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and transport equipment throughout campus.
