POSITION: Occupational Health Nurse
JOB TYPE: W2 – Full Time, 12-Month Contract-option to go internal
SHIFT: 2nd Shift Float (covering 3 clinics)
LOCATION: Peoria, IL + surrounding clinics
PAY RATE: $50
TRAVEL: 25–50% to 11 medical clinics in the Peoria area (Mapleton, Mossville, Morton, East Peoria, Peoria, Washington)
JOB DETAILS FOR OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH NURSE:
Our client is seeking a skilled and autonomous Occupational Health Nurse III to support medical operations across multiple Caterpillar clinics in the Peoria region. This is a full-time, 12 month contract role supporting second shift needs and providing float coverage across three medical clinic locations.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Occupational Health Nurse III (OHN III) is an advanced nurse generalist responsible for administering daily clinic operations and delivering comprehensive occupational health services. This role operates either in:
• A high?volume, multidisciplinary medical clinic/shift
OR
• A smaller stand?alone clinic requiring a high level of autonomy, independent judgment, and accountability.
JOB FUNCTION:
The OHN III serves as an experienced and autonomous nurse within Caterpillar’s Corporate Medical Department. Candidates typically come from general healthcare, acute care, emergency, prison healthcare, or occupational health backgrounds.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Deliver comprehensive nursing care related to employee illness, injury, and health management
• Function independently for most clinical and administrative decision?making
• Respond to and lead onsite medical emergency responses
• Act as liaison with contracted occupational health providers
• Manage clinic administration including documentation, metrics, orientation support, and PeopleSoft data entry
• Collaborate with facility leadership and HR to support employee health, productivity, and engagement
• Support Disability Case Management
• Assist in determining work?relatedness of injuries and regulatory compliance
• Conduct DOT drug screens, fit?for?duty exams, OSHA surveillance exams
• Provide wellness communication and on?site health programming
• Support special projects and continuous improvement of medical practices
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
• RN License required (Illinois)
• 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in acute care, emergency nursing, or occupational health
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, but extensive experience accepted
• Clinic, urgent care, emergency department, or correctional facility nursing experience accepted
• Internships accepted as experience (optional)
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical Skills (Required):
• Phlebotomy
• Strong clinical assessment & emergency response skills
• Ability to work independently and autonomously
• Strong computer skills, including electronic medical record management
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Ability to learn and navigate online databases (PeopleSoft, etc.)
