Duration: 12-Month Contract

Schedule: Onsite | 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM | 3 Saturdays per Month
Pay Rate: up to 49/hr
Travel: Up to 25% within East Peoria locations
Position Overview
Caterpillar is seeking an experienced Occupational Health Nurse III (RN) to provide autonomous occupational health services within a manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for delivering employee injury and illness care, emergency response, regulatory compliance support, wellness initiatives, and clinic administration. The selected candidate will operate independently as the sole nurse on designated shifts while collaborating with facility leadership, safety teams, Human Resources, and Corporate Medical staff.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive occupational health nursing services for employee illnesses and injuries.
- Perform clinical assessments, triage, treatment, and follow-up care as appropriate.
- Serve as the primary on-site medical resource and respond to workplace medical emergencies.
- Administer first aid and support injury management activities.
- Conduct DOT drug testing, fit-for-duty evaluations, and occupational health screenings.
- Perform OSHA-mandated surveillance exams and maintain audit-ready documentation.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, workplace health requirements, and company policies.
- Maintain electronic medical records and clinic documentation accurately and confidentially.
- Support disability case management and return-to-work activities.
- Investigate workplace injuries and assist with determining work-relatedness.
- Act as a liaison between facility leadership, Human Resources, Safety, and Corporate Medical teams.
- Deliver employee health education, wellness communications, and wellness programs.
- Coordinate with contracted occupational health providers and external medical partners.
- Present new employee health and safety orientations as needed.
- Maintain clinic operations, metrics, reporting, and administrative functions.
- Participate in Emergency Response Team (ERT) activities and facility health initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve occupational health processes and best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Strong clinical assessment, triage, and critical thinking skills.
- Experience responding to medical emergencies and managing employee health concerns.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and computer-based systems.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and professional judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
- 3-5+ years of occupational health, acute care, emergency department, or related nursing experience.
- Occupational health nursing experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience with OSHA compliance, ADA, ergonomics, wellness programs, and case management.
- Phlebotomy experience.
- Experience with PeopleSoft or similar HR/medical systems.
- Occupational health certifications or related professional certifications.
