This is a 3rd shift position, hours are 9pm – 9am Thursday night to Sunday morning
Job Summary
The Occupational Health Nurse IV (OHN IV) is an advanced nurse generalist and serves as the lead nurse responsible for clinic administration and delivery of occupational nursing practices within large stand-alone facility medical clinics. This role requires a high level of autonomy and operational accountability, managing greater work volume than other clinic nursing positions.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing services related to employee illness and injury, fitness-for-duty evaluations, and return-to-work screenings.
- Function as an autonomous nurse, responding independently to clinical and administrative demands while seeking expert support when needed.
- Act as liaison with contracted health providers and support health promotion examinations.
- Respond to and lead on-site medical emergency response; participate in Emergency Response Team (ERT) and contribute to Emergency Response Plans (ERP).
- Oversee clinical administration, delegate tasks, maintain clinic order, and manage documentation via paper and electronic medical record systems.
- Adapt Corporate Medical policies to local facility needs and ensure alignment with leadership expectations.
- Support disability case management, injury investigations, and compliance with governmental regulations.
- Conduct DOT drug testing, OSHA-mandated surveillance exams, and fit-for-duty evaluations.
- Deliver wellness communication and on-site wellness programs; assist with special projects and program delivery.
- Seek opportunities to innovate and improve occupational medical practices.
Years of Experience & Education
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN).
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; extensive experience may substitute.
- Minimum 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in occupational medicine or acute care.
- Certifications in related fields highly desirable.
Skills Required
- Outstanding clinical skills and judgment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; ability to learn online databases (e.g., Cority).
- Knowledge of OSHA compliance, ADA, EH&S, HR, ergonomics, health promotion, and emergency medical services.
- Well-organized and able to maintain confidentiality.
