OFP Quality Engineer
Location: East Moline, IL
Pay Rate: $46.00 – $48.00/hour
Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday-Friday | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Duration: Long-term contract opportunity, W2
Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced OFP Quality Engineer to support manufacturing operations at a large production facility in East Moline, IL. This position will focus on driving quality improvements, supporting assembly and weld processes, establishing process controls, and leading corrective action activities on the shop floor. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and possess strong knowledge of quality systems, process documentation, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, cost reduction, and ergonomics.
- Develop and maintain process controls, control plans, tooling requirements, assembly methods, Operator Method Sheets (OMS), and manufacturing documentation.
- Support manufacturing assembly and weld operations by troubleshooting production and quality concerns.
- Drive closed-loop corrective action processes and root cause investigations for assembly and welding issues.
- Utilize manufacturing systems and engineering tools to support process improvements and operational effectiveness.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, quality, and manufacturing teams to resolve issues and improve product quality.
- Analyze dimensional data, inspection results, and CMM reports to ensure compliance with engineering requirements.
- Support continuous improvement efforts through data analysis and process optimization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Experience working in manufacturing assembly, welding, fabrication, or production environments.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, measurement data, and CMM reports.
- Experience with quality documentation including PFMEA, Control Plans, Sequence of Events (SOE), and Operator Method Sheets (OMS).
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work with both salaried and hourly personnel.
- Experience utilizing engineering systems, manufacturing databases, or production software.
- Ability to work off-shift hours and occasional weekends as business needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with MPPlanner for SOE and OMS development.
- Experience with closed-loop corrective actions and quality improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with JDAAT, SAP, Ignition, or other MES platforms.
- Experience working in a union manufacturing environment.
- Experience with torque tooling applications.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Creo View.
- Previous experience supporting weld and assembly operations in a heavy manufacturing environment.
